Tim Labenda is a german designer working and living in Berlin Kreuzberg.
In 2013 Vogue’s chief editor Christiane Arp has taken notice of him and invited the young fashion talent to her VOGUE Salon at the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. He convinced her with his impressing design and participated 2014 for the third time.
Tim studied Fashion Design at the School of Design in Pforzheim, after completing his apprenticeship in tailoring at Hugo Boss. To expand his knowledge of textile design, he spent a term at Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, Canada.
He started his career as Design Assistant for Ute Ploier in Vienna, Paris and Shanghai, after working for Kenneth Cole Productions New York.
His graduate collection, “Grenzgänger”, mentored by Johann Stockhammer (Aigner), was shown in spring 2012 and was awarded by the La Biosthétique Award, the European Fashion Award and the Wilhelm Lorch Stiftung Promotion Award.
Starting his career as a menswear designer he now focuses on womenswear.
The style of his womenswear incorporates masculine fashion attributes like perfect fit and tailoring in feminine clothing. Tim Labenda plays with surface to create a cool, sexy and elegant female style with the best materials and extraordinary textures. His work embodies modest understatement and pure elegance. His second women’s collection for AW14/15 “PERELÌN” was awarded by the Steffl Best Newcomer Award 2014.
This season, his latest collection for SS15 “POOL” won already the “Start your Fashion Business Award” 2014.
