Mode und Fotografie der 90er Jahre
Das MMK Museum für Moderne Kunst in Frankfurt am Main zeigt, wie Mode unseren Blick auf die Welt verändert. In den 1990er Jahren erfand sich die Modeszene vor allem durch das Medium der Fotografie grundlegend neu. Künstler und Kreative grenzten sich von der etablierten Kunst- und Modewelt ab. Die aufwendig produzierten Bilder des Prêt-à-porter, der Haute Couture und der mainstream Modemagazine galt es zu überwinden, um das „wahre“ Leben und eine authentische Subkultur zu porträtieren. Die Ausstellung zeigt mit über 200 Werken der Fotografie, Originaldokumentationen und einem umfangreichen Programm mit Live Events, wie radikal und innovativ diese neue Generation war.

Photography and Fashion in the 90s
The MMK Museum für Moderne Kunst shows how fashion changes the way we look at the world. During the 1990s the key positions of fashion and photography reinvented the world of fashion and consumption. Artists of this era distinguished themselves from the established art and fashion scenes. They felt that the artificial images of prêt-à-porter, haute couture and mainstream fashion magazines needed to be overcome and replaced with “real life” pictures of authentic sub-culture instead.
The exhibition demonstrates with more than 200 works of photography, original documents along with an extensive program of live events just how radical and innovative this new generation was.
